Principle of Laser Subtitling
Sliding across the film, the focused laser beam burns off
the emulsion layer (color layer) leaving the translucent support in the background.
Engraver
Engraving proceeds on a frame-by-frame basis.
Film unrolling is achieved by a film transport
mechanism which positions the frame
to be subtitled in the engraving window.
This high-precision device maintains the film wind-on
and wind-off tension constant throughout the engraving process.
Between two subtitles and during section without dialogue
the film rolls at a pace of 200 frames per second:
the fastest in the marketplace.
Conception and Servicing
As in the previous releases, MONAL v 5.0 laser subtitling system is completely modular.
Any part of the system (film transport, scanners, electronic cards...)
can be easily serviced or removed.
It also ensures the system upgradability under changing technological conditions.

It switches from 16 mm processing to 35 mm in less than two minutes.
No special parameter setting is needed because the software automatically recognizes the format.
